What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves gentle insertion of very thin, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points on the body to help support innate healing through the release of neurotransmitters and increased blood flow to tissues.

What to Expect

On your first visit I will take a comprehensive health history, ask about your symptoms, observe your complexion, and check your tongue and pulse to create a treatment plan that best suits you. Next, I will place needles to stimulate acupuncture points while you relax with music and maybe even take a nap.

Your initial visit will take approximately 75 minutes with subsequent visits lasting approximately 45 minutes.

How Many Treatments Will You Need?

Everybody’s body responds differently to acupuncture. While more acute issues typically respond after a couple treatments, chronic issues usually require an ongoing maintenance approach.

How to Prepare

• Wear Loose Clothing: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to points on your limbs, such as pants that roll up past the knee or comfortable athletic wear.
• Eat Lightly: Do not come on an empty stomach. But avoid a heavy meal immediately before, as this can cause dizziness.
• Avoid Caffeine/Alcohol: Try not to consume alcohol or high amounts of caffeine beforehand, as it can affect your nervous system.
• Be Honest: Be prepared to answer A LOT of questions about your health. I like to get a detailed insight into your health.
